So. You are currently in the midst of a life sentence? Your mind tells you so, your eyes see it’s so; every one of your senses inform you it’s so.
But not to fear. It’s just a sentence, not the whole book. Not even close to an excavated, well formed paragraph; much less the tome or opus that better describes the sheer volume, quantity, spectrum of A Life.
Your Life.
And being in the midst of a life sentence does not mean you’ve been convicted of anything, except for how you convict yourself; convictions informed by the convictions you hold which you choose for yourself with the tone in the tome of your life. Do you have CONVICTION? A highly recommended character trait for any invaluable protagonist.
How high can a rubber eraser bounce to clear the page for a self-authored tome? In this realm where we live, there is no shortage of pages and if you write between the lines, it’s because you were trained to do so beneath the heading which included the date and your name. When are you? Where are you? Who are you?
You are the author and the ship of your authorship, and while you cannot control the sea, remember no brave soul ever captained any vessel under the illusion that the sea could be controlled.
Your mind is the sail that you learn to steer and your heart knows the NEWS, the North East West South— no external source can ever inform you of your own news. No illusion was ever a requirement. You were never meant to submit. It’s all a subtext lie you never knew was written because it existed in the dark waters of the unconscious mind(s) mine.
So lick your finger and hold it above your head to know which way the winds blow just for you, and steer your ship into the story of your life that only you can tell; your novel.
A novel can be an adjective— something that describes an energy beyond the ordinary course of things. Beyond the charted map plotted with string and push pins on a flat, squared piece of cork like sentences strung out across a lifetime of addiction to what is not you.
It is also a noun: words on a page of the story of you.
Novel can also mean New, and while the power in a new story may be new to you, your story remembers you. It is ancient and wise, and echoes like thunder upon the stormy sea. Do you see?
There are no scripts on the pages of a novel novel; no submission to the requirements of a robotic narci-system running narci-scripts never yours to recite. You are not a character in someone or something else’s play anymore than you are a passenger on someone else’s ship.
You are the pen and the ink and the well that flows to the river you came in on, Captain; all the way back to Sea.
